CARTHAGE The Carthage boys and girls lacrosse clubs will host their second annual alumni fundraiser on Friday to benefit former players Travis Ames and Sara Gallagher.
The event kicks off with four games at Carthage High School and continues into the evening with food and charity activities at the Elks Club.
Ames, a 2003 Carthage graduate, was diagnosed with testicular cancer. Gallagher, a 2005 graduate, suffered a spinal-cord injury in an ATV accident last summer and has been recovering and undergoing rehabilitation ever since.
The boys and girls youth lacrosse games will be held at 3 and 4 p.m, respectively, at the high school, with a womens alumni game at 5:30 and a mens alumni game at 7.
The fundraiser moves to the Elks Club at 8 p.m., where tailgate-style food will be served by both the boys and girls clubs; and also includes live entertainment, several raffles, drawings and a Chinese auction.
Admission is $5 for the lacrosse games and the evenings activities; those who attend the games for $5 will be admitted to the Elks Club with no charge.
Last year, the event raised $5,000, to benefit former Carthage standout Joe Ferris, who has since died from Lou Gehrigs Disease.
