CANTON — Patricia “Pat” Cotter, 83, of 6257 CR 27 died Saturday, July 7, 2012 at her home surrounded by her family.

Funeral will be Tuesday, July 10, 2012 at 11:00 AM at the Lawrence Funeral Home withPastor Donna Doig officiating. Calling hours will be Monday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be Fairview Cemetery.

Surviving Pat are two daughters, Sharon Lawrence, Kathy Cougler and husband Gary; a son Gary Cotter; a brother, Bob Sanderson all of Canton; eight grandchildren, Jessica Pecola of Syracuse, Rusty Lawrence of Canton, Ashley Cotter of Canton, Katie Thomas of Potsdam, Jennifer Cougler of Dekalb, John, Michael and Kelly Cougler of Canton, and three great grandchildren, Gabby Pecola, Cole Lawrence and Kyle Thomas. She was predeceased by her husband John Cotter and son John, Jr. and a brother Earl Sanderson.

Born April 25, 1929 in Canton, NY, a daughter of Nelson H. and Mary Ann (Gorman) Sanderson she attended Canton High School and graduated in 1947.

Pat was married to John H. Cotter on March 4, 1950 at the Grace Episcopal Church in Canton. John died on January 11, 1996. She and John lived on Hodgskins for two years and then started to build their home on CR 27 where she resided until her death.

During high school, Pat work at the Sugar Bowl restaurant and Barr’s Drugstore. After high school she worked for her sister-in-law, Fran Nerigan, at the Town House Restaurant and Berl Smith Fabric Shop in Canton. She retired in 1996 from Canton College Dining Services in the Catering Department after 23 years of service. While at Canton College she was nominated in 1991, 1992 and 1993 by the students for the Golden Greek Award for most popular non-teaching staff member. She won the award in 1992 and 1993.

Pat enjoyed collecting angels, cooking and home decorating including wallpaper and painting. She also liked working in her flower gardens and collecting porcelain villages for Christmas. She took great pleasure in raising her children and babysitting her grandchildren and was very excited to have three great grandchildren born in 2011, Gabby, Cole and Kyle.
