CLAYTON — Fire extensively damaged a single-wide trailer Monday morning at 1000 Islands Trailer Park, 40861 Route 12.

Joseph D. Plummer, Jefferson County director of fire and emergency management, said the trailer’s owner, Roger Henry, Syracuse, was not in the area at the time of the 11:47 a.m. fire and no one else was staying there. There were no injuries.

Mr. Plummer said the fire started in the walls or ceiling in the structure’s rear, although its cause remains under investigation.

“Firefighters did a really good job of holding the fire to the rear portion of the trailer,” Mr. Plummer said.

He said the rear portion sustained fire damage, while the remainder of the trailer has smoke and water damage. Mr. Plummer said he was uncertain if the structure is a total loss.
