Recently, I read a sad article in the Sunday Weekly part of the Watertown Times. It told of a single mother of three children who found herself expecting another baby while her youngest was only 1 year old. She was worried at the thought of anther baby to take care of.
As I was reading this, I wished she could have reached out for some help somewhere. The article said she went on the Internet and then received tablets to take to end the pregnancy, which turned out to be further along than she thought.
She did not have a doctor. She told an investigator who, arrived at her house, The baby is in the box. When they lifted the lid, they saw that the babys face was fully formed, and it had tiny fingers and fingernails. It is heartbreaking.
If only we could persuade expectant mothers who feel they cannot raise a child to consider placing the baby for adoption. We hear of many happy family reunions in the years after adoptions.
I am from a family of nine children. Like others I have met from large families, we say we had love and never missed having a lot of things. We have what is most important, life, love and a future.
