OGDENSBURG — Heuvelton firefighters blasted flames with water Sunday afternoon during a controlled burn of the uninhabitable structure at 5952 Route 812, Ogdensburg.
The building is on a 26-acre plot owned by the Ogdensburg Volunteer Rescue Squad, and has been used by Heuvelton crews for search-and-rescue and ventilation training.
“It's a great opportunity for these guys to train,” said Kenneth J. Gardner, director of operations for the Ogdensburg Volunteer Rescue Squad. About 20 Heuvelton firefighters participated Sunday, with the Morristown Fire Department providing mutual aid.
