THERESA State police Friday morning identified the victim of a fatal accident Thursday afternoon on County Route 21 as Thomas M. Uzailko, 23, of 30712 Route 26.
He died at Samaritan Medical Center, Watertown, where he was taken by ambulance after being thrown from the bed of a pickup as the truck overturned.
An autopsy was scheduled for Friday. An investigator said Mr. Uzailko was believed to have suffered internal injuries as well as a broken leg.
Another passenger on the truck bed, Shanna M. Knight, 20, of 33263 Holmes Road, was found pinned beneath the truck. Believed to be suffering from internal injuries, she was flown by helicopter to Upstate Medical University, Syracuse, where her condition was not available Friday morning.
Zachary B. Chambers, 16, of 32975 Holmes Road, who was ejected from the cab, was treated at the Watertown hospital for road rash, police said. He is not believed to have been wearing a seat belt, police said.
The driver, Robert A. Galey, 21, of 34504 Holmes Road, was not injured.
Investigator Daniel G. Tordy said Mr. Galey was driving south on County Route 21 when shortly after 3 p.m. he lost control of the 2002 Dodge because, according to the driver, the front wheels locked up.
The truck went off the west shoulder, struck a culvert at the end of a private driveway and overturned.
No summonses were issued, but the investigation continues. Part of the investigation will be a mechanical inspection of the truck, owned by a person who was not involved in the accident, Mr. Tordy said.
