Wizards’ Solis named PGCBL pitcher of the week

Watertown Wizards pitcher Rene Solis was named the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League’s pitcher of the week for games from June 6-17.

Solis, a junior from St. Mary’s University in Texas, went 1-0 in two outings and posted a 0.60 earned-run average.

He struck out 11 on opening night, but go a no-decision as Watertown lost to Newark 4-1. Solis then earned his first win by going eight and giving up one run in a 9-1 victory over the Pilots on June 13.
