Massena’s Draper to umpire in California League

SAN JOSE, Calif. — Massena native Andy Draper, a professional baseball umpire, has been promoted and will work in the Class A California League beginning tonight with a three-game series, featuring the Modesto Nuts at the San Jose Giants.

Draper, a member of Massena’s Class A state championship team in 2001, has been a pro umpire since 2010 and was working in the South Atlantic League. Draper will return to that league for one game when he works the All-Star Game in Charleston, S.C., on Tuesday.
