Just in time for my lengthy rumination on labor unions: The New York State American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations, a federation of 3,000 local unions in the state, endorsed Mr. Owens’ re-election bid on Wednesday.

“I’m honored to stand with the working men and women of the NYS AFL-CIO as we work together to create good paying North Country jobs,” Mr. Owens said in a news release.
