FORT DRUM State Sen. Patricia A. Ritchie, R-Heuvelton, will honor 39 state troops at a ceremony today on post.
The honorees service covers conflicts from World War II to the Global War on Terror.
We can never pay the debt we owe the men and women who served our nation as members of the Armed Forces. But I am pleased to recognize these individuals who were nominated by their fellow veterans, family and friends, Sen. Ritchie said in a statement.
The senator also will recognize retired Col. Michael T. Plummer as her nominee for induction in the state Senates Veterans Hall of Fame, which will hold its ceremony May 22 in Albany.
Col. Plummer, president of the Northern New York-Fort Drum Chapter of the Association of the U.S. Army, also advocated for the formation of the Adopt-a-Platoon program.
The ceremony is scheduled for 2 to 4 p.m. today at the USO Fort Drums Heritage Center.
