Brig. Gen. Harry E. Miller Jr., who was the rear senior commander of Fort Drum and the 10th Mountain Division from October 2010 until October 2011, was named Monday the deputy commander of the state Army National Guard.
According to a news release, Gen. Miller will assist Maj. Gen. Patrick Murphy in overseeing the training, deployment and family readiness of the state force.
Gen. Miller replaces Brig. Gen. Paul C. Genereux Jr., who retired earlier this year after serving more than 39 years in the Guard.
The state Army National Guard has approximately 10,500 soldiers.
