Former state AG Robert Abrams, the president of the organization, will take the lead.

This is the second tea leaf to emerge today on a redistricting deal. The other big sign: Senate Republicans are on the verge of dropping their lawsuit that challenges the state's law on counting prisoners at their last known address.

There are two obvious questions here: What is long-term reform? And what happens with the lines this year?
