Douglas Barclay, the former state senator from Pulaski and father of current Assemblyman Will Barclay, has been tapped to serve on an advisory panel of the state Republican Party.

Mr. Barclay also served as an ambassador to El Salvador.

"The primary purpose of the Council is to provide advice and guidance to the State Party in determining the best approach to the issues of the day, the direction our Party should be taking in general and how best to convey our message to the electorate," GOP Chairman Ed Cox said in a news release.
