A Watertown family is one of nine military families nominated to compete in the Give the Gift of Good program.
The program, sponsored by Home Depot, will award the winning family $20,000 for home repairs and services.
Sgt. Adam Ortega served in the U.S. military for nine years. During his most recent deployment to Afghanistan, he was injured and is now undergoing therapy for post-traumatic stress disorder and traumatic brain injury. Sgt. Ortegas wife, Monica S., is the primary caregiver for him and their five children, ages 2 to 11.
If the Ortegas receive the most votes at www.facebook.com/#!/homedepot, the family will receive the prize money to help replace windows and kitchen cupboards and install a walk-in shower. Voting continues through today.
