I've heard from numerous people that there's polling going on in the Nov. 8 city mayoral contest between Mayor Jeff Graham and Councilman Jeff Smith.
Here's the big caveat: With a voter pool this small, any results are going to have to be taken with a boulder of salt.
And another one: I don't know if there actually is polling going on. The Times isn't doing it, as far as I know. Neither is Channel 7, people there tell me.
Here's a wild idea: Maybe it's Newzjunky. I'd call them for comment, but I have no idea how to start. I'm literally not even allowed to know where they work out of. (Update: Hearing through the grapevine that Newzjunky denies parentage of this poll, too.)
I'm going to have to do some soul-searching to figure out whether I'd even write about the poll results. But it does seem to be a straight-up poll, and not a push poll, from what I've been told (a push poll is a way of asking someone a question that isn't neutral, to push them in one direction: Would you still read Brian Amaral's blog if you knew he was a raging alcoholic?).
Mr. Graham and Mr. Smith both deny knowledge of such a poll. Indeed, both men have contacted me to see if I know anything about it, and Mr. Graham wrote about it on his campaign blog.
