ROCHESTER — Former Watertown high school standout Taylor Hughes scored the game-winning goal for the St. John Fisher women's lacrosse team in its 14-13 upset victory over nationally-ranked Union College on Saturday at Fisher's Growney Stadium.
Hughes scored the second of her two goals with 5 minutes remaining to put the Cardinals up 14-12. The freshman attacker ripped a shot into the upper right corner of the goal from about 10 yards out.
St. John Fisher improved to 2-1 on the season, while Union, which was ranked 12th in the lastest national coaches poll, dropped to 1-1.
Hughes has started two of the Cardinals' three games this season, and has tallied six goals overall.
