Mr. & Mrs. John B. Kinney -- 65 years

GOUVERNEUR — Mr. and Mrs. John B. Kinney, 1347 County Route 11, celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary Sept. 26 with an open house given by their family at the home of their granddaughter, Lisa Foster, and her husband, Matthew, Gouverneur.

John B. "Ben" Kinney, son of the late Lindon and Marjorie Nichols Kinney, married Edna A. Blanchard, daughter of the late George and Eva Minnick Blanchard, Sept. 27, 1944, at the home of the bride's parents, Rock Island Road, Gouverneur, with the Rev. Harold Thomas officiating. Honor attendants were the late Carl and Doris Blanchard Taylor, brother-in-law and sister of the bride, who were married in the same ceremony.

Mr. Kinney attended Cazenovia schools and retired as a rural mail carrier from the U.S. Post Office in Gouverneur in 1991.

Mrs. Kinney is a 1938 graduate of Gouverneur High School and was employed by J.J. Newberry's until the time of her marriage.

They have a son and daughter-in-law, Earl and Connie Kinney, and a daughter, Diane Kelley, seven granddaughters, 15 great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren.

A son, Gregory J. Kinney, died Sept. 25, 2003. A son-in-law, Lindon Kelley Jr., died Sept. 27, 1982.
