St. Lawrence's Child lands ECAC weekly honor

CANTON — The ECAC Hockey League awarded St. Lawrence defenseman Peter Child its Rookie of the Week honor on Monday.

Child recorded his first-career goal en route to a hat trick in the Saints’ 6-3 win over Sacred Heart on Friday. He also had an assist on the game-tying score by Jeremiah Cunningham in St. Lawrence’s 3-3 tie with Sacred Heart on Saturday.

Child is the second player to win Rookie of the Week. Kyle Flanagan won it on Oct. 19 after scoring the game-winner against Niagara with 14.7 seconds to play.
