Mr. & Mrs. Vernon Staie -- 50 years

THERESA — Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Staie, Snell Road and Silver Springs, Fla., celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Oct. 3 at the Theresa Fire Hall with a gathering for friends and family hosted by their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mr. Staie, son of the late Robert and Mildred Ritter Staie, married Amy Payne, daughter of Albert and Pearl Graham Payne, Alexandria Bay, Oct. 11, 1959, at the Methodist parsonage in LaFargeville, with the Rev. Frank Smith officiating.

Mr. Staie retired from the New York Air Brake Co., Watertown, in 1993 and worked for the Thousand Islands Bridge Authority, Collins Landing, after retirement.

Mrs. Staie was a homemaker for several years before starting Mom and I Upholstery with her mother in 1977.

They have five children, Richard, and his companion Terry Towe, Morristown; Dennis, and his wife Debbie, Danny, and his wife Dawn, and Bill, and his companion Jennifer House, all of Theresa, a daughter, Vickie Staie, Alexandria Bay, 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
