NORWOOD — Neil W. Emburey, 82, of 4 Ashley St., died Nov. 22 at his daughter's home in Ellicott City, Md.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 9, at Buck Funeral Home. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. A reception will follow at the Norwood American Legion.
Mr. Emburey was a route salesman for the Stroehmann Bread Co.
Born Aug. 14, 1926, in North Stockholm, son of James and Emily Chaplin Emburey, he married Mary Grandy in August 1951 at St. Philip's Episcopal Church.
He served in the Navy during World War II in the Pacific theater as a radar man on the USS Antietam. He was a member of Norwood American Legion and a New York Yankees baseball fan. He enjoyed boxing, golf, hockey and playing cards. He also liked attending reunions with his old shipmates and telling stories of his naval experiences.
Surviving besides his wife, a resident of United Helpers Nursing Home, Ogdensburg, are a son, Stephen, Laurel, Md; a daughter and her husband, Sally and David McGill, Ellicott City, three granddaughters and several nieces and nephews.
Two brothers, Cecil and Clay, and a sister, Evelyn J. LaRue, died before him.
