Man jailed on charges he damaged woman's car
A Calcium man was jailed under $5,000 bail Sunday on allegations that he threw a cinder block on the hood of a woman's car and ripped off the vehicle's windshield wipers, according to state police.
Omar R. McFadden, 19, of 25372-8 Virginia Smith Drive, is charged with third-degree criminal mischief, a felony. He was sent to the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building by LeRay Town Justice George E. Mead III.
The car's owner, Hannah Tallman, Fort Drum, presented a $1,900 estimate for the damage caused on the night of Oct. 27, police said.
A second woman also reported damage the same night to her vehicle, but she did not file a formal complaint, police said.
Police say brothers had 20 pounds of marijuana
LISBON — Two brothers face charges for reportedly possessing about 20 pounds of marijuana during a stop on Route 37.
John D. Martinos, 39, of 3358 Slaterville Road, Brooktondale, and Adam D. Martinos, 41, of 133 S. Washington St., Oxford, were each charged Monday by the St. Lawrence County Sheriff's Department with first-degree criminal possession of marijuana. John also was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and operating an unregistered vehicle.
Both were arraigned in Canton Town Court and sent to St. Lawrence County jail, Canton, on $10,000 bail or $20,000 bond each. They are to appear in Lisbon Town Court.
West Leyden man jailed in attack on his father
WEST LEYDEN — Lewis County sheriff's deputies arrested a West Leyden man early Sunday after he allegedly broke into his father's residence at 3857 Statzer Road through a window using an ax. He then tried to assault his father, James Lamb, who fled to an adjacent barn, where he hid until deputies arrived, they said.
Deputies charged David J. Lamb, 50, with second-degree burglary, a class C felony; third-degree criminal mischief, a class E felony, and second-degree harassment.
Mr. Lamb was arraigned in town of Lewis Court and sent to Lewis County jail, Lowville, without bail.
Man accused of stalking
CANTON — Ronald R. Hills, 49, of 1119 Irish Settlement Road, was charged Sunday with fourth-degree stalking after making repeated telephone calls to a Canton woman, St. Lawrence County sheriff's deputies said.
Man, woman are charged with disorderly conduct
A man and a woman were charged with disorderly conduct in unrelated incidents early Sunday, according to Watertown police.
Steven D. Nunez, 22, Fort Drum, additionally is cited with resisting arrest. Police said he was shouting in the 200 block of Factory Street about 2:25 a.m., and ignored orders to leave. When officers attempted to handcuff him, he pulled away and kicked at them, police said.
Deanna L. Shaw, 29, Clayton, was charged at 1:15 a.m. in the 200 block of Eastern Boulevard after she shouted profanities at her boyfriend and slapped him, police said.
Three accused of stealing items from Massena mall
MASSENA — Three people face charges for allegedly stealing items from St. Lawrence Centre mall stores.
Mitchell W. LaRose, 21, of 915 Lafayette St., Ogdensburg, was charged Sunday with petit larceny for reportedly stealing items from J.C. Penney Co.
Samantha L. Herbick, 18, of 2206A Route 420, and Jessica J. Thornton, 19, of 319 Adams Ave., Ogdensburg, were each charged Sunday with petit larceny for allegedly taking items from Sears. All three were issued appearance tickets for Massena Town Court.
Woman held as fugitive from DWI charge in Pa.
COLLINS LANDING — A woman from Pennsylvania was arrested at U.S. Customs on Wellesley Island as a fugitive from justice Sunday afternoon, and was sent to the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building, Watertown.
Theresa M. Sauerwein, 46, Huntington Valley, Pa., has been wanted since February 2005 in Chester County, Pa., on a charge of driving under the influence of alchohol, police said. She is being held without bail pending extradition proceedings in Jefferson County Court.
Man accused of offering other's identification card
A man being charged with disorderly conduct early Sunday tried to conceal his identity by using the Oklahoma identification card of another man, Watertown police allege.
Andrew C. Moreno, 20, Calcium, faces charges of second-degree criminal impersonation, second-degree obstructing governmental administration, falsifying business records and disorderly conduct.
The ID card he displayed at 2:15 a.m. Sunday on Arsenal Street belongs to Thomas P. Word, 21, police said.
