The Watertown Daily Times got a little smaller today.

We are taking two pages out of Section A, seven days a week, and the Sunday sports section.

We are eliminating the "op-ed" page and moving syndicated columns and your letters to the editorial page. We are consolidating national and international news to eliminate one additional page.

We are not reducing the local news, sports and feature content.

We didn't want to do this. But a 32.5 percent increase in the cost of newsprint in the last year forces us to cut pages to control costs and retain staff.
