Desforges moves ahead in Stren Series tourney

CLAYTON — Mike Desforges grabbed the lead in the professional flight with a five-bass catch of 21 pounds and three ounces Thursday at the Stren Series BP Eastern Division tournament on the Thousand Islands.

Desforges, a native of Burlington, Ontario, has recorded a two-day catch of 10 bass equaling 40 pounds and nine ounces. Trevor Jancasz is in second place with a two-day total of 40 pounds, four ounces. Hugh Worth III, who led after the first day, has third place with a 10-bass limit of 39 pounds. The pros are competing for as much as $65,000.

Kenneth Roderick Jr. of Putnam, Conn., is pacing the co-angler division with a two-day limit of 33 pounds and four ounces. Dustin Edwards is in second place (33 pounds, two ounces) and Trudy Noechel nabbed third (32 pounds, two ounces). The winner receives $35,000.
