Glens Falls's Shane Davis spread six hits over eight innings while striking out four to hand Watertown a loss in Game 1 of a first round best-of-three New York Collegiate Baseball League playoff series on Friday.
Todd Brazeal hit a home run in the bottom of the fifth to put the Eagles ahead, and though the Wizards made a late run — scoring three in the top half of the ninth — Glens Falls won 5-3.
Chad Stang hit two doubles for the Eagles.
The Wizards were led by Jake Gorman and Greg Herbst, who had two hits apiece.
Watertown returns home to play the second game today at 7 p.m. at Alex T. Duffy Field.
"I still feel confident," Wizards manager Ryan Horning said. "We've got Luis Castillo going (today). I feel good about our chances."
