GOUVERNEUR — Mr. and Mrs. James M. Streeter, 1094 County Route 11, will celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary at an open house from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Veterans of Foreign Wars post.
Mr. Streeter, son of Jean McCartha Martin, 1443 Route 11, Gouverneur, and the late Earl H. Streeter, and Terry L. Mullin, daughter of Carl D. Mullin, Jacksonville, Fla., and the late Margaret B. "Peg" Melrose Mullin, were married Aug. 3, 1968, at Gouverneur United Methodist Church with the Rev. Stanley Brown officiating.
Honor attendants were Patricia Streeter Whalen, Plattsburgh, sister of the bridegroom, and Earl Kinney, 361 Seavey Road, Gouverneur.
Mr. Streeter graduated from Gouverneur High School in 1964 and served in the Navy from 1965 to 1968. He was a heavy-equipment operator and was employed in sheetrock installation for several years. He has been a bus driver for First Student Inc., Lisbon,for the past 18 years.
Mr. Streeter enjoys hunting, fishing and riding a scooter.
Mrs. Streeter graduated from Gouverneur High School in 1967. She is a teacher's aide at Gouverneur Central School and St. Lawrence-Lewis Board of Cooperative Educational Services, Glenfield.
She is a Red Cross volunteer and has been a 30-year volunteer for Thousand Islands Girl Scout Council. She is neighborhood chairwoman of Oswegatchie Valley Neighborhood Association.
The couple has a son, Shannon J., and a daughter, Wendy Ann Peters, both Gouverneur.
