2 from Redfield charged

in theft of four-wheeler

REDFIELD — Two Redfield men were arrested Thursday for allegedly stealing a 1999 Honda four-wheeler from a garage in the town of Redfield, Oswego County sheriff's deputies said.

One of the men also is charged with stealing a truck in the town of Scriba.

Clifford L. Thurston, 24, and Robert L. Cullop, 18, both of 40 Castor Road, were charged with third-degree burglary and fourth-degree grand larceny, both felonies. They are accused of breaking into the garage sometime from June 21 to 23.

Mr. Thurston was arraigned before Redfield Town Justice Angela Kimball and sent to Oswego County jail, Oswego, on $2,500 cash bail or $5,000 bond.

Mr. Cullop was arraigned in Scriba Town Court; further information was unavailable Saturday night.

On Thursday, Mr. Thurston also was charged with third-degree grand larceny, a felony, and third-degree unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, a misdemeanor. On June 25, he allegedly helped steal a stake rack truck parked in the town of Scriba that was carrying orange traffic cones.

Man accused of smashing

windows in front of kids

A Watertown man was charged with child endangerment and taken to Samaritan Medical Center after punching a windshield and two garage windows Saturday evening, city police said.

Brian C. Ives, 27, of 1022 Gill St., was charged at 5 p.m. with fourth-degree criminal mischief and endangering the welfare of a child.

Police said Mr. Ives was on his way home from the Jefferson County Fair with his girlfriend, Michele D. Hall, 36, Black River, when he punched the windshield of her vehicle, causing it to crack, in the presence of her two children, police said.

When they arrived at Gill Street, Mr. Ives allegedly punched through two windows of a garage belonging to Randall A. Bischoff, 59, also of 1022 Gill St.

After Mr. Ives was processed, he was taken by Guilfoyle Ambulance to SMC, where he was treated for a cut on his arm and released, police said.

He is to answer the charges in Watertown City Court.

Glenfield man is accused

of sexual abuse of child, 8

GLENFIELD — A Glenfield man was arrested on sexual-abuse charges for allegedly having sexual contact with a child over the course of a year, state police said.

Duane F. Brouty, 44, Moose Pines Road, was charged at 3:15 p.m. Friday with one count of first-degree sexual abuse and one count of endangering the welfare of a child. According to reports, he allegedly had sexual contact with an 8-year-old girl in the town of Watson.

He was arraigned in Martinsburg Town Court and released after posting $2,500 bail.

Chain-reaction accident

in Lowville injures man

LOWVILLE — A Remsen man was injured in a four-vehicle crash early Friday afternoon on South State Street at the village's main intersection.

Village police said Ralph E. Taube, 76, of 10248 Route 126, Castorland, was driving north in a 2002 Buick when he struck a 1993 GMC pickup, driven by Donald R. Michaels, 49, Remsen, that was stopped at the light. Two vehicles ahead of Mr. Michaels's truck also were involved in the chain-reaction crash.

Mr. Michaels complained of shoulder pain and was taken to Lewis County General Hospital for treatment.

Mr. Taube was charged with following too closely. The Lowville Fire Department also responded to the scene.

Gouverneur pair accused

of stealing teen's bicycle

GOUVERNEUR — James A. Kriegel, 22, and Timothy A. Travis, 23, both of 15 Johnstown St., were charged at 1 p.m. Saturday with petit larceny, Gouverneur police said.

Mr. Kriegel also was charged with criminal possession of stolen property, police said.

According to reports, the two men on Monday stole a 20-inch Diamondback bicycle that belonged to a 14-year-old boy. Both men were issued tickets to appear in Gouverneur Town Court.

Watertown man charged

with harassing woman

Watertown police have caught up with a city man after a domestic spat earlier this month.

Edward L. Whitfield III, 42, of 111 E. Lynde St., Apt. 141, was arrested Thursday at his apartment and charged with second-degree harassment. Police said he slapped July M. Towsley, same address, in the face July 10 at their apartment. He was sent to the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building until arraignment.

In late May, Mr. Whitfield, pleaded guilty to petit larceny and was sentenced to a one-year conditional discharge. He was accused of holding down Ms. Towsley and trying to take money from her March 26 on Gotham Street.

Couple accused of leaving

daughter, 7, home alone

THERESA — A Theresa couple was charged with endangering the welfare of their 7-year-old after repeatedly leaving her home alone for five to eight hours, according to Jefferson County sheriff's deputies.

Nicole R. Moore, 25, and Kevin D. Moore, 26, Indian River Estates, Lot 18, Eddy Road, each were charged at 11:50 a.m. Friday with one count of child endangerment, sheriff's deputies said.

According to reports, they left the child alone while they were working because they could not afford day care.

They will answer the charges in Theresa Town Court.

Police say two people

sold alcohol to minors

NORTH LAWRENCE — Two people face charges for allegedly selling alcohol to minors, state police said.

Kimberly K. Gilbert, 39, North Lawrence, and Tony P. Lucas, 44, Nicholville, were charged Friday with prohibited sale of alcoholic beverages to minors, troopers said. The two reportedly each sold a six-pack of beer to minors. The location of the sales weren't known. Each was given an appearance ticket for Lawrence Town Court.

Norfolk teenager accused

of using mom's credit card

NORFOLK — A teenager faces theft and forgery charges after allegedly stealing a credit card from his mother and making several purchases with it, Norfolk village police said.

Adam J. Baublitz, 19, of 55 W. Main St., was charged Thursday with second-degree forgery and fourth-degree grand larceny, police said. He was arraigned in Norfolk Town Court and sent to St. Lawrence County jail, Canton, on $2,500 cash bail or $5,000 bond.

Gouverneur men charged

with taking bike at store

GOUVERNEUR — Two Johnstown Street men face larceny charges for reportedly stealing a bicycle July 14 from the P&C grocery store, village police said.

James A. Kriegel, 22, of 15 Johnstown St., was charged Saturday with petit larceny and fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property. Timothy A. Travis, 23, same address, was charged with petit larceny, police said. The bike was recovered.

Both were issued appearance tickets for Gouverneur Town Court.
