The results of the Jefferson County Fair marching band competitions have been released.
For the parade competition, Morristown Central School won first place and Edwards-Knox Central School, Russell, won second place in Division C. In the individual band performances, Morristown Central School won first place and Thousand Islands Central School, Clayton, won second place in Division C.
For both the parade and the individual band performances, Heuvelton Central School won first place and Lisbon Central School won second place in Division B, while Gouverneur Central School won first place in Division A.
A number of special awards also were given to bands Tuesday. Gouverneur Central School won first place for horn line and percussion, second place for drum major/majorette and third place for color guard.
Heuvelton Central School won first place for American flag line, second place for color guard and horn line and third place for drum major/majorette and percussion.
Lisbon Central School won first place for drum major/majorette and color guard and third place for American flag line and horn line. Morristown Central School won second place for American flag line.
Other results for parade awards included the best appearing fire department. For Class A, the Theresa Fire Department won first place and the Dexter Fire Department won second place. For Class B, the West Carthage Fire Department won first place, the Great Bend Fire Department won second place, the Deferiet Fire Department won third place and the Northpole Fire Department won fourth place.
The Jefferson County Sheriff's Department won first place and the Jefferson County American Legion Family Color Guard won second place for the best appearing veteran unit. The West Carthage Junior Fire Department won the award for best appearing other marching unit, while Copenhagen won first place for the best appearing fire department ladies' auxiliary.
The 4-H Warriors and the Jefferson County Dairy Princess wrapped up the best appearing float with first and second place, respectively.
