FORT DRUM — Seven soldiers from the 10th Mountain Division were awarded the Purple Heart medal at a ceremony June 27 at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Washington, D.C.

The recipients were 1st Lt. David Woodward, Capt. Andrew Lynch, Capt. Robert Hinchman, Spc. Hein Tran, Spc. Anthony Norris, Pfc. Darrell Reid and Pfc. Frank Pierson.

Capt. Lynch, who was injured in the same attack as Pfc. Reid on the 10th Brigade Support Battalion, 1st Brigade Combat Team, also was awarded the Bronze Star. Capt. Hinchman received the Combat Infantryman's Badge at the same ceremony.
