CASTORLAND — Richard W. Neely, 29, of 8790 Van Amber Road, died Tuesday in a fatal motor vehicle accident on East Road in the town of Denmark.
Mr. Neely was employed during the winter for Fort Drum Public Works and in the summer for Champion Materials.
Born Oct. 15, 1978, in Honolulu, Hawaii, the son of Richard Ray and Carol Elizabeth McCallops Neely, he graduated from Carthage High School.
He married Theresa Windover on June 16, 2007, at Turning Point Park, Carthage.
Mr. Neely enjoyed fishing, hunting and four wheeling. He was a member of Black River Four Wheeler Club, Lewis County Search and Rescue, where he served on the board for a few years, and Champion Fire Department.
Surviving besides his wife are his father and stepmother, Richard and Jane Neely, Carthage; his mother and stepfather, Carol Elizabeth and Bert Gutierrez, Champion; a sister and her husband, Brandy and Thomas Loder, Champion; a grandfather, William McCallops; a sister-in-law, Nicky Peters, Lowville; a niece, and several nephews, aunts and uncles.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Bossuot-Lundy Funeral Home, 500 State St., Carthage, with the Rev. Linda J. Harris, pastor of United Methodist Church, Carthage, officiating. Burial will follow in Sunnyside Cemetery, Naumburg.
