FORT COVINGTON — Paul W. Grant, 58, Chateaugay Street, died Tuesday morning of cardiac arrest at Alice Hyde Medical Center, Malone, where he had been a patient since Sunday.
Mr. Grant was employed for more than 28 years by Kraft Foods, North Lawrence, retiring in 1998 because of his health.
Born June 28, 1950, in Fort Covington, son of Donald W. and Florence Carr Grant, he graduated in 1968 from Salmon River Central School. He married Deborah Herne on July 3, 1971, at the United Methodist Church.
He was a member of the Church of Christ, Hogansburg, and Fort Covington American Legion. He enjoyed riding his scooter, watching sporting events and Westerns and playing cards. Known as "Mudcat," he was recently inducted into the Salmon River Central School Baseball Hall of Fame for 1967.
Surviving besides his wife are a son and his wife, Robbie and Chris, Teboville; two daughters and their husbands, Karyn Grant-Mulverhill and Brian Mulverhill, Malone, and Michelle Grant-Barnes and Sean Barnes, Fort Covington; four brothers and their wives, Robert and Marion, Lakeland, Fla., and Harold and Phyllis, Bryant and Rachel and Dan and Wanda, all of Fort Covington, six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral is at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Church of Christ with the Rev. Brandon Tarbell officiating. Burial is in Elmwood Cemetery.
A calling hour is at 9 a.m. Saturday at the church. Arrangements are with Cappiello-McKenzie & Cosgrove Funeral Home.
