HOGANSBURG — Frederick C. Thompson, 70, of 84 Raquette Point Road, Akwesasne, died Monday evening at Hotel Dieu Hospital, Cornwall, Ontario, where he had been admitted earlier in the day. He had been in failing health for the past few years.

Mr. Thompson was an ironworker, employed in various locations including California and Rochester.

Born Sept. 15, 1937, in Syracuse, son of Percy and Ethel LaFrance Thompson, he attended St. Regis Mohawk School and Bombay High School.

He married Elizabeth Martin Lazore on Aug. 14, 2004, in Las Vegas. Previous marriages, to Phyllis Meade from Ireland and Brenda Thompson, ended in divorce.

He was a member of Andrew W. Cook American Legion Post 1479, Akwesasne, and enjoyed boating, traveling and going to the casino.

Surviving besides his wife are an adopted son, Fred Thompson Jr., and his companion, Laurie Thompson, Raquette Point; four stepdaughters and a stepson-in-law, Kelly and Dave Boyce, Rochester, Lynn Pierce, and her companion, Francis, Westville, Regina Pierce, and her companion, Jeff Tarbell, Cornwall, Ontario, and Elizabeth Lazore, Raquette Point; a stepson and his wife, Tom and Debbie Pierce, Cornwall Island; a sister, Judy Thompson, Raquette Point; two stepsisters, Isabel Dorry and Edith Brown, both of Akwesasne; several grandchildren, an aunt and cousins.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Donaldson Funeral Home with the Rev. Deborah L. Waldron officiating. Burial will follow in Hogansburg Methodist Cemetery.
