POTSDAM — Donald M. Morgan, 74, Potsdam, died Tuesday at Canton-Potsdam Hospital.
Mr. Morgan owned and operated farms on Morgan Road. He was a high school science teacher at Knox Memorial Central School, Russell, and was vice principal from 1964 to 1990. His last year teaching was at Edwards-Knox Central School, Russell.
Born June 7, 1934, in Potsdam, son of John P. and Mary Dunkel Morgan, he graduated from Potsdam High School, Canton Agricultural and Technical College and in 1963 from Potsdam State Teachers College. He completed his graduate work at St. Lawrence University, Canton. He married Eleanor Clark on May 24, 1962.
Mr. Morgan served in the Navy for four years during the Korean War. He was a former member of Canton Club, Canton Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1231 and the New York State Teachers Association.
Surviving besides his wife are three sons, Clark M., Alexandria Bay, Daniel J., Oakland, Calif., and John P., Potsdam; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Martha and Edward Colligan, Watertown, and Marguerite "Peg" Bloomhuff, Farmington Hills, Mich., three grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Three brothers, James, Joseph and Robert, and two sisters, Alice Adams and Marie Rushman, died before him.
A memorial Mass will be said at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Church with the Rev. Garry B. Giroux officiating. Arrangements are with O'Leary Funeral Service, Canton. Donations may be made to Potsdam Volunteer Fire Department or Potsdam Volunteer Rescue Squad.
