CARTHAGE — Robert J. Myers, 73, formerly of 8939 Tyler Road, Bridgeport, died Friday at Carthage Area Hospital Skilled Nursing Facility, where he had been a resident since Jan. 31, 2007.
Mr. Myers was a snowplow operator for the town if Wilna and was employed by E.C. Crooks Memorial Co.
Born Dec. 27, 1934, in Carthage, a son of David Douglas and Viola Florence Gadbaw Myers, he attended school in Carthage.
He married Beverly J. Zeller on March 1, 1954. She died before him. Two other marriages ended in divorce.
Mr. Myers served in the Army National Guard. He enjoyed bowling, scratch-off tickets, playing pull tabs, fishing and hunting.
Surviving are a daughter and her husband, Dianna and Larry Arnold, Bridgeport; a daughter-in-law, Brenda Myers, Glenfield; two sisters and their husbands, Janice and George Bouvier, Carthage, and Beverly and Floyd Moore, address unknown; two sisters-in-law, Rosemary Myers, address unknown, and Margaret Myers, Carthage; and several grandchildren.
A son, David, and two brothers, William and Lester, died before him.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Bossuot-Lundy Funeral Home with the Rev. Roger Mono officiating. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Natural Bridge.
Calling hours will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
