LISBON — Dorothy E. Smithers, 93, Route 68, Flackville, died Saturday at Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center, Ogdensburg.
Mrs. Smithers was a homemaker and assisted her husband, Morris E., in the operation of their Flackville-area dairy farm for many years.
Born April 8, 1915, in the town of Lisbon, she was a daughter of Ernest and Eva Baxter Lawrence.
She married Mr. Smithers on May 13, 1936, in the Heuvelton Presbyterian manse with the Rev. Allen G. Bowering officiating. Mr. Smithers died Sept. 13, 2003.
Mrs. Smithers was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Heuvelton and enjoyed playing cards, reading and her cat.
Surviving are her caregivers, James and Louise Shaw, Canton, Mary Premo, Flackville, and Betty Lytle, Rensselaer Falls.
A brother, Ivan Lawrence, died before her.
The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Allen-Nichols Funeral Home, Ogdensburg, with the Rev. Laura McKnight, pastor of First Presbyterian Church in Heuvelton, officiating. Burial will be in Campbell Cemetery, Flackville.
Calling hours will be 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
