Ervin M. Sayers, 99, formerly of Watertown, died Thursday at the F.F. Thompson Continuing Care Center, Canandaigua, where he had been a resident since 2000.
Mr. Sayers was employed at Baker's Pharmacy for 52 years as a clerk and pharmacy assistant. After he retired from the drugstore, he was a security guard for the former House of the Good Samaritan, now Samaritan Medical Center, for six years.
Born Sept. 2, 1908, in Watertown, son of Herman and Mary DeMarse Sayers, he attended school in Watertown.
He married LaNora LaPlante on April 20, 1946. She died March 8, 1973. He married Louise Miller Marzano on June 21, 1974. She died June 28, 1991.
He was a communicant of Holy Family Church.
Surviving are a son and his wife, Richard and Janice Masterson Sayers, Canandaigua; three granddaughters, three great-grandsons and several nieces and nephews.
Two brothers, Joseph and Victor, a sister, June Ward, and a companion, Thelma Bisnett, died before him.
A private graveside service will be in Glenwood Cemetery with the Rev. Leo A. Wiley officiating. Arrangements are with D.L. Calarco Funeral Home.
