THERESA — A graveside service for Grant W. Aldrich, 84, Irish Avenue, Philadelphia, formerly of Theresa, will be at a later date.

Mr. Aldrich died Sunday at Carthage Area Hospital, where he had been a patient since June 20.

Arrangements are with Frederick Bros. Funeral Home.

Mr. Aldrich worked for Gouverneur-area farms and Mercer's milk plant as a milk hauler from 1959 to 1965; for Tree Preservation Co., Saratoga Springs, in 1966; for St. Regis Paper Co., later Champion International, Deferiet, from 1967 to 1988 and for Oakwood Cemetery from 1991 until retiring in 2003.

Born July 21, 1923, in the town of Edwards, son of Wesley J. and Ellen Fowler Aldrich, he attended a one-room schoolhouse on Waite Road, Antwerp, and Little Bow School, Gouverneur.

He married Virginia L. Paige in 1949. She died July 11, 1980.

He married Jean F. Gleason on May 23, 1981, at Philadelphia United Methodist Church with the Rev. David Quick officiating. She died Nov. 21, 2001.

Mr. Aldrich enjoyed genealogical research, collecting antiques and watching Western movies.

Surviving are three daughters and a son-in-law, Kathleen Perin, Donna Aldrich and Annette and Randy McEathron, all of Gouverneur; two stepsons, Robert M. Ingram, Maine, and Royal Ingram, Evans Mills, and four grandchildren.

A daughter, Charlene Aldrich, died May 22, 2006. A grandson also died before him.
