Terry and Betty Burrows, Norwood, announce the engagement of their daughter, Melissa R. Burrows, Charlotte, N.C., to Richard K. Stewart, also of Charlotte.

Miss Burrows graduated in 2003 from the University at Buffalo with a bachelor's degree in exercise science. She is assistant store manager for Kohl's Department Store, Rock Hill, S.C.

Mr. Stewart, son of Keith Stewart, West Seneca, and Lynn Muldoon, North Tonawanda, graduated in 2005 from the University at Buffalo with a doctorate in physical therapy. He is employed with Select Physical Therapy, Gastonia, N.C.

An Oct. 18 wedding is planned.
