President Bush is out of touch with reality. We have millions of Americans who are starving, and he wants Congress to appropriate $770 million for the world's hungry. There is definitely something wrong with that picture. Why can't the rest of the world step up to the plate for a change.
First off, where is this money coming from? We cannot keep spending and expect the dollar to gain strength. All the money we have spent in Iraq would certainly have paid down some of the national debt.
Let's pay down the debt, balance the budget and take care of our own. If the people want to give, then so be it. America cannot afford to keep spending or give away money. You do not strengthen the economy or dollar through importing. We need to export. And any company that chooses to go outside should pay more to bring it back in.
Mr. Bush does not want to use the "R" word. What about the "D" word? The last time this country was in a depression it took a war (World War II) to bring us back into prosperity. Do we want that?
